Built in 1891, Najeti Hôtel Château Tilques is a Neoclassical county manorin northern France, a 35-minute drive from Calais’s ferry and Eurotunnel connections to the UK. The picturesque grounds, which are dotted with modern sculptures, have a lake and a resident peacock.

The hotel is surrounded by the Marais Audomarois biosphere reserve, a UNESCO-recognised region of canals and wetlands, and is 10 minutes’ drive from St Omer, a historic Flemish town with a Gothic cathedral and plenty of restaurants and bars.
